PropOne™ is a two-coat paint scheme comprising a Primer Coat and of a Foul Release Coating (Clear Coat).
The Clear Coat is a low surface energy coating which prevents organisms strongly adhering to the surface of the propeller and fast moving components permanently immersed in water. Organisms can be easily dislodged once the boat is under way.
As with all foul release coatings, when not in use, the surface will be colonised by encrusting organisms. The removal of the fouling organisms is purely a mechanical effect.
The Clear Coat does not prevent marine growth by chemically poisoning the environment.
What are the advantages?
“Because PropOne is so slick, it glides easily throught the water, reducing drag even when compared to a clean prop. This will increase the prop RPM for the same torque, in other words it will save you fuel and running costs“
PropOne goes to the home of Guinness!
Forward thinking Irish shipyard owners Michael and Stephen Kehoe visited the PropOne stand at the METS 2015, this exhibition is well known for finding innovative products.
During the 70’s and 80’s the Ross Company shipyard once employed hundreds of men in the shipbuilding industry and now Michael and Stephen are helping to redevelop the area, making the New Ross Boatyard into a thriving marine business.
We arranged to visit the yard in County Wexford, and applied PropOne to Richard Bost’s fine Kadey Krogen M/Y Dauntless, featured above, and the Kehoes are hoping to save fuel and time for the local fishermen and pleasure boaters by applying PropOne ….Irish magic.
